From July 12th to 13th, VEF Quarter in Riga transformed into a vibrant center of sustainable fashion and culture. The two-day festival took place for the third time, aiming to promote sustainable fashion culture, introduce the public to local designers working in this field, and foster creativity and freedom of expression.
During “Bourzma Boutique 2024”, the main activities were a fashion show, a market featuring designer-made clothing and accessories, an upcycling workshop with a graffiti art masterclass, a panel discussion on sustainable fashion, and various other events.
“AJ Power Recycling” participated in the event by supporting the upcycling workshops and providing festival attendees with textile to upcycle from our textile sorting containers. Participants could experiment with various techniques offered in the workshop to transform already-used materials into fresh designs.
"Bourzma Boutique" is the first festival of its kind in Northern Europe. This is a highly significant project for the local cultural scene as well as for promoting a sustainable lifestyle," says Patriks Kirkils, “Bourzma” director and creative lead.

The central event of the festival was the emerging designers' fashion show on July 12th, which was divided into two segments ”Bourzma Style" and "Bourzma Fashion." The participants' work was evaluated by a jury of industry experts, who selected the winner in the "Bourzma Fashion" category. The prize, provided by “AJ Power Recycling”, awarded the winner with 500 euros to support the further development of their brand. In the "Bourzma Style" category, the winner received the "Bourzma Package" award, created in collaboration with the festival's supporters.
On the second day of “Bourzma Boutique 2024”, visitors had the opportunity to purchase designer-made clothing and accessories, including outfits showcased in the fashion show. Meanwhile, the significance and value of sustainable fashion were discussed in a panel discussion featuring representatives from the festival’s partner companies, “SEB Bank” and “AJ Power Recycling”.
