In pursuit of sustainable development and enhanced energy efficiency, four solar power plants have been installed at the LATRAPS grain pre-processing complex in Eleja. The solar panels are positioned both on-site and on building rooftops, ensuring optimal use of the available infrastructure. Two of the plants supply electricity for the grain pre-processing operations, one powers the office building and EV charging stations, while the fourth serves the Rapeseed Oil facility.
The project was implemented with co-financing from the European Union Structural Funds. The investment is expected to pay back within four years, delivering cost reductions and marking an important step in the company’s progress toward its climate objectives.
“The development of the solar park is a logical step in our sustainability strategy – it not only reduces our CO₂ emissions but also strengthens our energy independence at a time of volatile electricity prices. This is an investment in the future – from both an economic and environmental standpoint,” emphasizes Mārtiņš Dauksts, Head of Technical Support at LATRAPS.
